Wolves Winter Classic
3 v. 3 Tournament
On March 16th, West Hartford Youth Hockey will be hosting its 4th Annual 3 v. 3 tournament. This event will be open to any travel skaters registered with West Hartford Hockey. Space will be limited, though, so pick your teammates and get signed up!
Tournament Details
When: March 16 – first games start at 8:00 am, finishing up by 11:30 am
Where: Veterans Memorial Skating Rink
Eligibility: This event is for West Hartford travel players only (all skaters must be registered with WHYHA for the current season).
Tournament Fee: $30 per team. One representative from each team should handle the online registration and payment.
Tournament Includes: A minimum of 3 round-robin games per team, a medal round, and awards for 1st and 2nd place teams in each Division.
Structure: Games will be 3 v. 3 “shinny” with no goalies, played in a cross ice format with pond hockey nets. Teams will register for one of 4 co-ed divisions: Mites, Squirts, Pee Wees, or Bantams. The tournament will involve up to 8-10 teams in each division, with the top 4 teams advancing to the Medal round to crown a champion. (Teams and divisions will be 'flighted' if needed to ensure a competitive environment. This will be determined based on RSVP / Sign Up at the discretion of the WHYHA Coaching Director and President). There will also be a Family Division to close out the morning, pitting teams of 2 or more siblings and a parent / coach against each other to see who will be named Wolves Family Champion for 2019. There is no charge to participate in the Family Division.
Immediately following the 3v3 tournament, there will be a Mite Development cross-ice game, which will serve as a warm-up for the Annual Coaches game.
Come spend the morning at the rink (since you rarely ever do that) and enjoy the festivities. There will be donuts and coffee during the morning events and lunch during the Coaches game.
Finally, in case that isn't enough hockey for 1 day, we will close it all out and bring the house down that evening with the 1st annual Wolves DJ skate / Adult Cocktail Hour. Bring your skaters back for a fun DJ skate just for Wolves players and families...and for those interested in some off-ice conversation and beverages, they will both be available (for a small fee). Stay tuned for more information!
Go Wolves!
